Week 9 Start/Sit: Flex Coleman, Trust Douglas, Don't Chase Allgeier

Week 9 start/sit calls: Jonah Coleman, Demario Douglas, Keenan Allen, Harold Fannin Jr. and who to bench, with sources.

The pitch: Injuries and a QB change in Cleveland set up a few easy calls this week. Here's who earns a spot and who sits.

Quick reminder before anything else: Jaguars at Ravens is Thursday night, so set your Jacksonville and Baltimore guys early. Full injury details are in the Week 9 injury roundup.

Start 'em

Jonah Coleman, RB, Broncos (at Carolina) Sporting News' Vinnie Iyer calls the Panthers' run defense "putrid" and has Coleman in RB2/flex range with RJ Harvey out (Sporting News). SI has him as its RB13 for the week (SI). Flex floor, RB2 ceiling. Start him.

Demario Douglas, WR, Patriots (vs. Green Bay) With injuries thinning that receiver room, Iyer says Douglas is playing like New England's No. 1 and Drake Maye trusts him (Sporting News). SI ranks him WR28. In PPR, trust the role.

Keenan Allen, WR, Colts (vs. Dallas) This one's all matchup. Iyer calls the Cowboys' defense "so bad" that Allen can get there on a modest number of targets. Veteran floor plus a soft opponent equals a flex.

Harold Fannin Jr., TE, Browns (at New Orleans) Deshaun Watson is in the concussion protocol, and Shedeur Sanders looks like the starter (SI). In Sanders' six starts last season, Fannin was the TE4 in points per game. Sanders throws short, and short is Fannin's whole world. Start him.

Denzel Boston, WR, Browns (at New Orleans) The experts split here. SI likes short-area KC Concepcion with Sanders; Iyer prefers Boston as the big outside guy. My lean: Boston in standard, Concepcion only in deeper PPR.

Sit 'em

Tyler Allgeier, RB, Cardinals (at Seattle) Yes, he's the top claim in our waiver wire post. But Iyer flags him as a weaker play against Seattle, and Yahoo says not to expect anything close to last week's 191 scrimmage yards (Yahoo). Roster him for the month. Bench him this Sunday if you can.

Anyone in the Ravens passing game not named Zay Flowers (vs. Jacksonville) Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley are both on IR, so rookie Joe Fagnano starts Thursday, and the Jacoby Brissett trade won't be done until the weekend (NFL.com) (The Big Lead). Flowers is a WR3/flex at best this week; everyone else sits.

Garrett Wilson, WR, Jets (vs. Kansas City) He's in the concussion protocol and DraftSharks says he's unlikely to clear for Sunday (DraftSharks). Have a backup plan ready. If he's out, Adonai Mitchell gets a bump.

Check before kickoff

Bhayshul Tuten, RB, Jaguars (at Baltimore, Thursday) is questionable after three straight missed practices. NBC Sports calls him on the wrong side of questionable (NBC Sports). Chris Rodriguez Jr. is off the injury report and is the likely starter if Tuten sits. Plan around Rodriguez.
