TreVeyon Henderson Details Medical Emergency Ahead of Week 9

Friday update: Henderson says he was hospitalized with unexplained neurological symptoms. Official Week 9 game status still pending; sit him and lean on Stevenson.

Friday's biggest Patriots update isn't a practice stamp — it's Henderson explaining why he's been away. Here's what it means for your Week 9 lineup.

1. TreVeyon Henderson details a medical emergency; sit him this week. In a Friday social-media statement, Henderson said he recently experienced "an unexpected and unusual medical emergency involving a series of unexplained neurological symptoms" that required hospitalization for several days. He said comprehensive testing has "come back positive and reassuring," but "the cause of this remains unknown and unexplainable," and that the symptoms have affected his strength, coordination, and some physical functions. He's focused on recovery with specialists and physical therapists (ESPN, NFL.com, CBS Sports, NBC Sports / PFT).

The Patriots have been listing him with an illness. He missed Week 8 vs. Miami, has not practiced since late October, and was a DNP again Wednesday and Thursday of Week 9 prep (Patriots.com injury report, Patriots.com Week 9 report, CBS Sports). As of this write-up, the official Friday practice column and game-status tag on Patriots.com are still blank / unspecified — so we are not calling him officially Out yet. Local/Yahoo reporting has said he's been ruled out for Sunday vs. Green Bay (Yahoo / WFXT); that conflicts with the live official board, so treat the Yahoo line as unverified until the Patriots post the final Friday stamp. Either way: do not start Henderson. His own statement points at recovery, not a Sunday return (CBS Sports analysis, SI fantasy).

2. Start Rhamondre Stevenson; Kiner is the backup dart. Stevenson already handled the lead job in Henderson's Week 8 absence and remains the clear RB2 start vs. the Packers — CBS and RotoBaller both keep him locked as a No. 2 fantasy back even if Henderson somehow sneaks back (CBS Sports Week 9 start/sit, RotoBaller). If Henderson sits again, Corey Kiner is the expected change-of-pace / expanded No. 2 behind Stevenson (deep-league flex / handcuff territory, not a must-start in most 12-teamers); Lan Larison mixed in last week as well (CBS Sports / RotoWire, NFL.com).

Related Patriots tags (still watch Friday's board): A.J. Brown (ankle/knee) was a Friday DNP after missing Wed/Thu — if he's ruled out, DeMario Douglas stays the WR1 path (CBS Sports). Hunter Henry (foot) was present for Friday's media-access portion of practice after two DNPs — wait for the official participation + game status before treating Eli Raridon as a lock start (RotoWire / Mike Reiss).

We'll update when the Patriots post the final Friday designations.
